Norah's Professional and Ethical Standards
At Norah, we believe mental health care depends, first and foremost, on safety, trust, respect, and feeling heard. That is why we work to ground every stage of receiving our services — from choosing a specialist to the end of the therapeutic process — in ethical and professional principles.
1. Respect for the client's dignity and choice
Every person enters their therapeutic journey with their own unique circumstances, experiences, and needs. At Norah, we respect a client's choices and values without judgment or labeling, and we involve them in decisions about their own path.
2. Confidentiality and privacy
Clients' personal information and the content of therapeutic sessions are confidential and protected with care and accountability. Therapeutic information is not shared with others without the client's consent, except where the law or professional requirements create an exception to protect the safety of the individual or others.
3. A professional, healthy relationship
The relationship between specialist and client must be built within a professional, safe framework grounded in trust. Any behavior, communication, or relationship that blurs professional boundaries or harms the client is inconsistent with Norah's principles.
4. Choosing the right specialist
We try, as far as possible, to pair a client with a specialist whose expertise, experience, and approach fit their needs. If a client feels the therapeutic relationship isn't right for them, they can raise it and, if needed, request a change of specialist.
Changing specialists is not a sign that therapy has failed — sometimes finding the right companion is part of the path to feeling better.
5. The client's right to ask questions and decide
Clients have the right to ask about the course of treatment, the methods used, the number of sessions, fees, and any other related matters, and to make informed decisions about how to continue.
Specialists, in turn, must provide the information a client needs in understandable language, so that an informed decision is possible.
6. No promises or guarantees of outcome
At Norah, the outcome of therapy depends on each person's circumstances, needs, goals, and engagement along the way. So no fixed or identical outcome is promised to everyone.
Rather than promise a guaranteed result, we commit to providing a professional, safe, and supportive path.
7. Professional competence of specialists
Specialists must work within their own area of expertise and professional competence, and when they encounter something outside that scope, they should guide the client toward more appropriate help.
The goal is for every person to receive services suited to their actual need.
8. Respect for the boundaries of therapy
Time, communication, and interactions between specialist and client must take place within a clear professional framework. Maintaining healthy boundaries helps build a sense of safety and trust in the therapeutic process.
9. Accountability and responsiveness
If a client has a concern or is dissatisfied with the course of sessions, a specialist's conduct, payment, scheduling, or any other part of the service, they can raise it with the Norah team.
We work to listen carefully, look into it, and find the best possible resolution.
Your voice matters to us — raising a concern can help make the path better.
10. Respect for diversity and individual differences
At Norah, people's individual, cultural, social, and lifestyle differences are respected. No one should be belittled, discriminated against, or judged for who they are or what they believe.
11. Client safety comes first
If a situation arises during treatment that puts the health or safety of the client or another person at serious risk, it must be handled in line with professional principles and the relevant legal requirements.
12. Clear communication about cost and services
Before receiving services, clients should be given the information they need about session fees, the type of service, and the terms for cancelling or rescheduling a session. Norah works to ensure no fee or commitment is created for a client without prior notice.
13. Responsible use of information and technology
In online sessions and the use of communication tools, protecting privacy and information security matters a great deal. Clients are also encouraged to hold sessions in a private, secure setting and to avoid sharing their session access details with others.
14. The right to pause or change course
Clients may decide to continue, pause, or change the course of their treatment. That said, where circumstances are sensitive or extra care is needed, it's recommended that this decision be discussed with the specialist first, so that ending or changing course happens safely and professionally.
Norah's commitment
At Norah, we see mental health as a human journey — one where trust, safety, respect, and informed choice matter deeply.
We work to create an environment where you can talk about yourself without fear of judgment, ask questions, and make informed decisions about how to continue.
Norah isn't here to choose your path for you; we're here to help you find the right path for yourself and continue with greater confidence.
